JENNINGS Brewery has bought a North Yorkshire pub in a £500,000 deal.
The Cumbria-based brewery has acquired the Castle Arms Inn, in Snape, near Bedale.
Jennings, which was bought out by Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries earlier this year, says the pub will strengthen its presence in an area of North Yorkshire that benefits from a vibrant tourist trade.
The pub chain and brewer has about 40 pubs across the North-East and North Yorkshire.
Castle Arms licensee Sandra Haxby will continue to run the pub with her business partner, Mike Parker. The pair have managed the pub since 1997.
Greg Smith, business development manager at Jennings, said: "One of the many advantages of acquiring this pub, apart from its excellent location and strong customer base, is that it is being run by two people with a great track record."
Ms Haxby said: "We plan to introduce to our customers a number of Jennings' brands such as the Cumberland Ale, Cockerhoop and Snecklifter."
