ASHOK Kumar, the Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP, died of natural causes, a post-mortem examination has revealed.
Dr Kumar was found dead in his constituency home at about 12.30pm yesterday afternoon.
The 53-year-old died as a result of what is called ischaemic heart disease, a clogging of the main arteries of the body.
There will be a commemoration celebrating Ashok’s life later this week, held at Guisborough Methodist Church, Westgate, Guisborough.
The exact date and time will be confirmed later and all who knew Ashok will be welcome to attend.
Ravi Kumar, Ashok’s brother, said on behalf of the family: “We would like to thank all the members of the public, the constituency organisation, and his friends and colleagues at Westminster for supporting him and for their tributes”.
Chief Constable of Cleveland Police Sean Price said: “Ashok Kumar was a talented MP who was dedicated to serving his constituents, and was always greatly supportive of Cleveland Police. I was extremely saddened to hear the news of his death and my thoughts are with his family and friends.”
