A CHARITY will host a wedding fair for future brides and grooms planning their big day on a budget while supporting an overseas aid appeal.

The British Red Cross shop, in Spennymoor, County Durham, is appealing for wedding clothes and accessories for its wedding fair and auction next month.

The event, in Spennymoor Leisure Centre, on Saturday, April 3, will raise money for the Red Cross Haiti earthquake appeal.

Visitors can view and try on items including wedding and bridesmaids’ dresses, motherof- the-bride outfits, suits, tiaras and hats, from 10am to noon, before they are modelled and auctioned between 1.30pm and 4pm.

As well as the charity auction, local businesses will exhibit their services and products.

Red Cross shop manager Karen Cunningham said: “We are delighted with the generosity of the local community.

“Not only has the leisure centre given us the venue for free, we have also been given so many wedding outfits and accessories that we will hopefully be able to raise a good amount for the Haiti appeal.

“However, we still need more items that can be auctioned, so please can everyone have a look at home and donate any wedding items that would help make a bride’s day perfect while helping us raise vital funds.

“We are also keen for more local businesses to take a stand at the fair to exhibit their services.”
