A SCHOOLBOY has been dancing in aid of victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Brian Laidler has fulfilled his pledge of dancing with 100 different partners after his school, North Park primary, in Spennymoor, County Durham, stepped in to help.

The ten-year-old’s quest has taken him to clubs in Skegness, Scarborough and all over the North-East.

Brian, of Lakeside Court, Spennymoor, is proving to be a natural at rock and roll, and has raised £400 – half of the school’s total of £800.

He said: “I just like dancing.

“My mam said it would be a good idea to do it and collect money. I just go round asking people if they want to dance. They’ve all said yes.”

The rest of the school has raised cash with at a non-uniform day, raffle and a sponsored balloon release.

Katharine Thompson, business manager, said: “Brian is quite a character.

He is very quiet, so it has been quite a surprise he has been learning to rock and roll. We are very proud of him and all the children who raised money.”
