A VALENTINE’S Day walk is being planned to raise money for a heart scanner appeal.
People are invited to join a three-mile walk around Durham City’s picturesque riverbanks, in aid of the British Heart Foundation’s Heart of Durham Appeal.
The BHF appeal aims to raise £47,923 to buy a 2D Echocardiogram for University Hospital of North Durham, in Durham City.
The walk is being organised by Durham University Charities Kommittee (Duck).
Duck manager Mel Punton said: “This is a great opportunity for us to support a local cause and we want as many local people as possible to sign up for the walk.
“Buying a new heart scanner for Durham is a tremendous cause.”
The walk will begin at Durham Market Place on Sunday, February 14, at 1pm. Participants must raise a minimum £10 in sponsorship.
Students wanting to take part are asked to call 0191-334-1986 or email duck.charities@dur.ac.uk Non-students can call appeal manager Fiona Turner, on 01642-562162.
