I've been having some interesting correspondence about Darlington Football Club with Paul Bielby, a former professional footballer who runs a private football academy.

Paul's growing increasingly concerned about the plight of the Quakers and thinks there's a need to get all interested parties together for a clear the air meeting.

The football club is now owned by chairman Raj Singh and he and former chairman George Houghton own 50 per cent of The Northern Echo Arena and the land around the stadium.

It's all gone very quiet re the proposals to develop the land and Quakers are prime candidates for relegation out of the Football League, unless Steve Staunton can conjure the great escape.

Perhaps the future of the town's football club should be the subject of the next Darlington Debate?

What does the future really hold for Darlington FC? It's a question worth debating.
