YOUR Worst North-East Team of the Week (Echo, January 18) was unfair in that neither Darlington and Newcastle had played over the weekend.
Therefore, their players had no chance of qualifying for a place in this prestigious team. I have long thought that a team of the worst players in action over any given weekend would be as revealing as that purporting to be the best.
Having said that, the ‘best of’ team may soon be appearing in a five-a-side format given the recent performances of our teams.
I think it was Peter Reid who once speculated on the problem of motivating a roomful of sullen millionaires. Plenty of other managers seem to be wrestling with the same problem.
