SOLDIERS enjoyed a refreshing break from a gruelling long-distance march - with the help of a well-known brewery.
One hundred Coldstream Guards marching 425 miles from Scotland to London stopped off at the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham, as they journeyed through Yorkshire.
And there they were treated to a reviving bottle of Black Sheep Ale to see them on their way.
The soldiers are following in the footsteps of their former colleagues by commemorating a march by General George Monck and a 6,000 strong army 350 years ago.
They are taking up the challenge in order to raise awareness of the work being undertaken by the regiment in Afghanistan and to raise funds for their injured colleagues.
Captain Mark Hayhurst, one of the organisers said: "Some 350 years ago the General led an army out of Scotland and marched south to London.
"His trip took 34 days in severe weather conditions and with all the snow and ice we have marched through recently, we are finding out exactly how he felt."
Brewery managing director Paul Theakston said: "We are very proud to be able to support the Coldstream Guards in their march.
"We heard about their challenge and thought after a long walk across North Yorkshire a drink of Black Sheep could be just what they needed."
