A LANDLADY has offered a Sunday lunch in return for the safe return of four notice boards.
Over the past two years, Kate Umpleby, landlady at the Foresters Arms in Coatham Mundeville, near Darlington, has seen about £1,000 worth of signs stolen from the front of the pub.
The boards, advertising the menu and events at the pub, started to disappear in the summer of 2008. The latest went on Sunday night.
Miss Umpleby said: “I cannot keep replacing them, especially in the current financial climate.
“We are situated just off the road, so I rely on those signs to direct custom towards us.
“It feels like every time I take a step forward, I take two back – I am fed up.”
Miss Umpleby said she would offer a Sunday lunch for the return of the signs.
