The national cup draw took place last weekend and with two teams entering this season Middlesbrough are hopeful of claiming some silverware. The senior team have been drawn against Kent based rivals HBU CSL - having already beaten them comfortably in the league the team is confident of progression to the next round. Boro captain Michael Ableson commented "HBU CSL will provide us with a good test, we go in to this game confident of a win but mindful that this is the cup and anything could happen. We had a great run two seasons ago when we were narrowly beaten in the final and that success was built around getting over difficult obstacles such as this one in earlier rounds. The team has had a little break over the Christmas and New Year period so I will be expecting them to be refreshed and eager to get going."
The clubs other entry comes in the under 20 junior cup, with no less than 4 of the players already featuring regularly in the clubs senior team the under 20s are hopeful to progress also. Drawn against Bury St Edmunds in the first round their game takes place this Sunday at Bury. Team captain Owen Stewart commented "Bury are a good team, they have a lot of good players and will have the home advantage. However, we are in good shape, playing well and would relish the opportunity to get to the next round; as long as we stick to our game plan I'm confident we can claim a victory."
