ARTWORK exploring teenagers’ ideas about God has gone on show.
The Images of God exhibition, which includes paintings, sculptures and drawings, was created by youngsters from 11 Catholic schools across the North-East, and is being exhibited in Durham Cathedral.
Students were challenged to create images they identified with the sacred and holy.
Sara Crawshaw, director of Hexham and Newcastle Catholic Partnership (South), said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to explore spirituality through art. I would encourage art lovers across the region to visit.”
Mike Brogan, head of art at English Martyrs School, Hartlepool, one of 11 schools involved, said: “This has been a very positive and stimulating experience for our year nine students. The idea of a contemporary approach to the historically powerful genre of religious art has been inspirational.”
Images of God will be on show until January 31.
