I WAS always led to believe that our national sport, football, was a winter sport, until now when our league fixtures were decimated with the first sign of snow.

Even though most grounds have the benefit of undersoil heating systems, football was brought to a halt because approach roads to the stadiums were deemed dangerous.

What a namby-pamby nation we are becoming.

Ironically, I have yet to hear of a shopping precinct or super-market that has closed because of the surrounding approaches.

T Seale, Middlesbrough THERE were only three games played at the weekend in the Northern League yet two of them were in Billingham.

Both the Town and the Synners were able to put a game on.

Yes life is looking good here on the Billingham Riviera.

Now where did I put those sunglasses?
