A 58-YEAR-OLD pedestrian who died after being struck by a car in heavy fog last night has been named by police.
David Paul Light, was struck by a blue Renault Clio on Church Row in Hurworth, near Darlington, at 11.49pm.
Police said the driver felt the car hit an object in the road, and when they stopped and returned to the scene, Mr Light was found lying in the road.
He was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital, but suffered fatal head injuries.
A spokesman for Durham Police said thick fog had reduced visibility to between ten and 15 metres at the time of the collision.
The car had been travelling towards Neasham Road at the time.
Witnesses, or anyone who was in the area at the time, are asked to call police on 0191-3752159.
