POLICE in North Yorkshire are advising people not to drive unless absolutely necessary as black ice causes major problems across the county.
A minor collision between two vehicles led to Bullamoor Road, between the A19 and Northallerton, near Kirby Sigston, being closed for some time, from about 9am.
No one was injured in the collision but it took sometime to clear the cars from the road in the conditions.
A spokesman for the force said: "If people must drive then we ask them to drive as safely as possible because there is sheet ice on many of the roads in the county.
"We would ask that people do not drive unless they really need to, to try and minimise the risk of collisions and incidents."
