DETECTIVES are marking the first anniversary of a savage assault by renewing their appeal for information.
A 56-year-old man was hurt during the early hours of January 11 last year as he walked past the bus stop outside the Post Office in the King Edward's Drive area of Harrogate.
He was attacked by two men who ran off leaving him on the ground bleeding heavily from the face. The victim required hospital treatment and now suffers severe facile scarring.
Detective Constable Scott Nugent said: "With the upcoming anniversary of this attack, we are continuing our efforts and asking for any outstanding witnesses to come forward to help us find the attackers and ensure that these people are brought to justice.
"Over the course of the past year people may have been talking about this assault and we wish to speak to anyone who may have heard anything about it.
"It is likely that the offenders were youths from the area and someone out there knows who they are and what they have done."
Anyone with information should contact police on 0845 6060247 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
