Every fortnight the Darlington Forum hosts an event for 14-17 year olds on a Thursday. The cost to get in is £3 and refreshments can also be bought on the night. NewBlood offers a chance for local bands to come and play to promote themselves and see what the young people think. This NewBlood had Kill Chaos and Your Army returned continuing their tour of “Dance”.

First to perform were Kill Chaos with Gavin on bass/backing vocals, Darren as the “singist” and Tris for the “drummist”. The band formed altogether about a year ago when Gavin and Darren were in a band and Tris joined soon after.

The name “Kill Chaos” came from a while ago when the band was to go on tour with another band and the singer, “Kasey Chaos” was always ill and the tour was always cancelled. This made the band annoyed and therefore came up with “Kill Chaos”.

It is difficult to narrow down the bands genre as there are so many labels, so they decided that simply Alternative Rock seemed to be the best one. The band is also influenced by Future of the Left, Biffy Clyro, The Pixies, At The Driveway and of course, the people they are touring with, Your Army.

Whilst on stage the crowd got rather excited and even formed into a “Ring of Death”, which quickly got broke up, leaving the crowd to simply dance around. Songs played were the likes of “OK on the OK”, “Don’t Be A Hero”, “Perfect Puzzle” and many more.

Keep an eye out for the band as they are recording a new album in the new year which is to be released in March and they also plan to tour again whilst writing new songs.

All in all the band are entertaining and worth seeing live.

Headlining the evening was Your Army, who are currently touring on their “Dance” tour around the UK.

For a re-cap the band is a girl-fronted rock band with:

Lucy- Vocals

Chris- Guitar

Andy- Drums

Simon- Bass

The band formed in 2006 when they were in college and they knew each other so decided to get together and that was that.

Since the last NewBlood there has been some changes, one is one of the previous members, Sarah, has left. Also the band has created a new poster and wrote some more songs and is now on facebook and twitter.

Your Army have been pretty busy with all of the above and they have also been doing a lot of touring on their tour of Dance. They have appeared at numerous festivals and also opened for Fightstar at the O2 Arena.

NewBlood the second time round was described as “amazing”, however it was slightly cold and rain-y.

The band opened with a song, “Ten Seconds” and was dancing around the stage getting the crowd excited. The crowd responded by cheering along and dancing around too, some singing along. When Lucy spoke out to the crowd they responded and they gave out high-fives- all of which returned. The set was finished with “Luke”- an original. During the set songs played were “Long Haul”, “What People Say”, “Dance!” and many more, including a cover of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl”.

In the future the band is doing many more gigs and they are planning on releasing a new album, meaning lots more songs.

It is safe to say Your Army is amazing and I hope they go far.
