A YOUTH has been arrested after a woman was punched in the face and stabbed four times.
A 16-year-old male from Middlesbrough was arrested in connection with incident this morning and is being held in police custody.
The woman, 23, was walking along Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough at about 6.55pm on Sunday evening when she was attacked.
As she walked into The Crescent towards Roman Road, she noticed the youth cycling on the opposite side of the road in the same direction as her.
As she crossed the junction of Cornfield Road, the youth pulled at her handbag.
She struggled with him before he punched her in the face and stabbed her in the lower arm four times.
She chased the youth who stole her handbag but had to stop after a short distance due to the injuries she suffered.
