CONTROVERSIAL plans to move an historic statue have been narrowly approved by councillors.
Durham County Council's county planning committee today backed Durham City Vision (DCV) proposals to move the iconic Lord Londonderry on horseback statue 26m across Durham Market Place.
The plan, part of the £5.25m Heart of the City regeneration scheme, has attracted huge public anger, with more than 6,000 signing a protest petition.
