Mainsforth Bowls Club is celebrating after receiving funding to enable a new footpath to be installed around the bowling green at Mainsforth Sports Complex.
Ferryhill Town Council and Lafarge Aggregates have both contributed funds to the project, which is costing in excess of £20,000.
Work to remove the existing footpath has already been carried out by the town council and Sherburn Construction Company. The old path had become worn and was fast becoming a health and safety hazard.
The improvements are due to be completed by the beginning of the new Bowls Season in late Spring. Kevin Wealleans, Chairman of the Mainsforth Bowls Club said, “We are all delighted by the improvements being made. The new footpath will make a vast difference to the clubs existing facilities”.
Mainsforth Bowls Club is always keen to recruit new members. For further information contact Sarah Jones, Secretary on telephone 01740 657244.
