A MAN was taken to hospital after falling into the River Tyne in Newcastle city centre.
The emergency services were called to the scene at just after 6.20pm on Monday.
The casualty was secured with a harness until he could be reached by the brigade's fire boat, before being taken to the Pitcher and Piano jetty.
He was transferred to hospital by ambulance, but his condition was last night unknown.
