A FREE tack stamping service is being launched in Richmondshire tomorrow (Saturday, November 7) to help tackle the problem of equine-related thefts.
The initiative is designed both to help police identify the owners should stolen tack be recovered, and to act as a deterrent to thieves.
A police spokesman said that whilst thefts of high value equine equipment is relatively rare in Richmondshire, incidents are on the rise.
Members of the Richmond Safer Neighbourhood Team will be at the launch of this tack stamping service at Millbry Hill, Broken Brae, Brompton-on-Swale on Saturday, November 7 between 10am until 4pm.
They will also be able to offer advice on other aspects of equine security.
The free tack stamping service has been developed by the safer neighbourhood team, in conjunction with Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership, and with sponsorship from Millbry Hill.
