A SECOND post mortem carried out on the body of Darlington teenager Ashleigh Hall has revealed her death was consistent with smothering, police have said.
A statement released by Durham Police this afternoon said: "Following a second post mortem we can reveal that her death is consistent with smothering."
Ashleigh, 17, was found dead on farmland in Sedgefield, last Monday night.
The trainee nanny went missing after going to meet someone she had met on social networking site Facebook.
Peter Chapman, 32, of no fixed abode has been charged with manslaughter, kidnap, and failing to identify a new address as required by the Sex Offences Act, and was yesterday remanded in custody at Teesside Crown Court.
