American rock pop band, All Time Low were sure to get an tremendous response from; fans, press, families and the bands own groupies, from the release of their follow up third full length album, ‘Nothing Personal’ released from Hopeless Records on 7th July 2009.
After the response and hit singles from the quartets second album ‘So Wrong, Its Right’, released in the back end of 2007, the expectations for Nothing Personal were set high. The brand spanking new album consists of 12 upbeat rock songs, with a 4 added hidden bonus tracks; for those against illegal online file sharing and them only. The album was released firstly in the USA and reaching the UK release date just in time for the bands UK Sold out September tour, selling the CD at gigs and in nationwide HMV’S for all those British loyal fans to enjoy the delights of the album.
Back in April 2009, before the release of Nothing Personal, the first single of the album ‘Weightless’ hit a storm on its debut appearance on American music channels, only one day before the American release of the album, reaching number 4 in the Bubbling Under hot 100 and positioned steadily at number 136 in the UK charts soon after. Following the first single and album, a second video was produced for track number 3 ‘Damned If I do you, Damned If I don’t’ set as a talk show theme, with band mates ganging up on singer and writer, Alex Gaskarth. The video made its first appearance on American TV on June 6th, followed by a clip of the song on the bands MySpace shortly afterwards.
Main vocalist, writer and guitarist, Alex Gaskarth talks to the Alternative press explaining that ‘Our music explains all the troubles we have been through’. This phrase could be rather understandable, due to hit song ‘Lost in Stereo’ and ‘Therapy’ recorded onto the album. One a soothing lullaby, another a fast and catchy tune about everyday issues, both are still deep and meaningful and having heart pumping lyrics making you just want to listen to them both over and over. With the upbeat and party factor tunes of ‘Hello Brooklyn’ and ‘A Party Song (A Walk Of Shame)’ it truly reminds us of the highlights of life and that maybe this band know what it’s all about. ‘Sick Little Games’ is a understandment of the phrase by the young attractive singer, describing a story about a young man, sucked off by the tabloids following a set of sick little games. The song ‘Stella’ was announced on the bands UK tour to be written with the people in the UK in mind with its upbeat party yet English vibe to every inch of this hit song by the band.
Along with Gaskarth, the bands guitarist Jack Barakat, Drummer Rian Dawson and bassit Zack Merrick, described the album as ‘One of the most grown up album we’ve produced’ yet, this album does still seem to be a big party in a box. Maybe that’s just the view of a teenager, like myself. What do you think?
