Soon after the door opened, fans scattered up the stairs, along corridors and finally into the main venue area were southern newcomer trio Twenty Twenty, Go: Audio’s first support acts, were about to kick of the night. Influenced by bands such as Blink 182, Bryan Adams and McFly, the band was sure to get an extreme response from the fans which had turned up tonight. Considering the bands first gig was March 2009, the band have come on a long but rewarding journey to have already toured along side; The Mission District, Saving Aimee, The Broadcast and now Go: Audio, not forgetting their headline tour in September this year!

Starting the set off with ‘Third Time Lucky’, 21 year old vocalist and guitarist, Sam Halliday, managed to hit soft spot in each and every person’s heart, with his talented but young unique voice, as 19 year old drummer Sonny Watson-Lang showed true enthusiasm and compassion into motivating the crowd alongside 19 year old bassist - also the singers brother, Jack Halliday who really got the party started.

After racing through the first song, next came the band’s debut single released on 1st June 2009, ’Forever’ a melody that was recognisable to all fans. As the crowd began to bob to the upbeat and funky sensation, it became clear that the band weren’t the only people singing along to the song. Next was ‘Tomorrow’, a bouncy and catchy track which was recently offered to the bands fans as a free song by a monthly online magazine which frequently features the band. Soon after was the bands second single and a personal favourite of my own, ‘Story of Our Lives’ which was released 14th September 2009 and is one of the bands more rocky and excitable tunes, including astounding and skilled bass and guitar riffs from both of the Halliday’s. The band ensured that every fan raised their hands, jumped up and down and enjoyed every moment of the song as it leaked into the finale song, ‘Get Down’ which ended the bands set with a bang, keeping the excited enthusiasm still lurking in the atmosphere ready for the next band.

Shortly after finishing the last song, the band announced that they wanted to meet every single person that had watched them play. ‘The favourite part of any show is of course playing and connecting with the crowd [there’s nothing that comes close to the seeing the crowd loving the show]’ added singer Sam Halliday after the show.

After accepting their requests, hundreds of screaming fans scrambled to the merchandise area at the back of the academy, patiently waiting for what the band had promised. As soon as the band appeared from behind the entrance doors, fans began to mob them eagerly, pleading for photos, autographs and the odd fan daring for a kiss on the cheek. ‘We also love the after show stuff like meeting the fans’ added Sam, all in which shows beyond doubt how dedicated and caring Twenty Twenty are about their fans and would surely never want to disappoint any fan, at any show.

Twenty Twenty’s upcoming headlining tour kicks off in January 2010 in Nottingham 17th, reaching the Newcastle Academy 2 on the 23rd, finishing at Islington academy on Saturday 30th January, 2010.
