A PHOTOGRAPHER has been recognised as one of the best in the business only eight months after he turned his hobby into a profession.
Andrew Whitaker’s image of Gateshead Quayside is among the best views in Britain, according to the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year awards.
Mr Whitaker, of Northern Horizons photography, beat off competition from 20,000 people to be named one of the final 15 entries in the classic view category.
His image will appear in a seven-week exhibition at the National Theatre, in London, and in a book of entries from the competition.
Mr Whitaker, 32, of Fenham, Newcastle, set up in business after he was made redundant from his job as a salesman.
The image, Three Bridges Panorama, is available to buy at northern-horizons.co.uk
