A FARMER remains in hospital after he was seriously injured when a gas cylinder exploded.
Richard Frankland, of Hill Top Farm, Grewelthorpe, near Masham, North Yorkshire, was injured in the explosion at his farm.
A gas cylinder in a shed he was in blew up at about 5pm on Saturday, blowing off the roof.
He suffered leg injuries and was taken by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to Harrogate District Hospital and transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where he is in a stable condition.
His son is thought to have been in the shed at the time, but was unhurt.
Debris from the blast fell on nearby rooftops and in the centre of the village.
Emergency services from Ripon and Masham were sent, and the Health and Safety Executive is investigating.
Mr Frankland’s wife and two children were too upset to comment yesterday.
