Game Time last season created the Tees College league and although primed to be successful, few could have imagined how good the league would be. In one of the only local college leagues in the UK an amazing 11 colleges from the Tees Valley area entered with 10 proving active forces. Hartlepool FE found the going a little tough and managed just 1 game but the others relished in the provision of competitive games with Queen Elizabeth earning the status as first ever champions after finishing the season unbeaten and winning the Play offs final in front of 250 people at Eston Sports Academy. Prior Pursglove Pumas, Darlington Tech, Middlesbrough College and Hartlepool 6th Form were also impressive with each team boasting star players and healthy squad numbers proving the demand for the league. In the lower echelons of the league, the likes of Stockton Riverside Pioneers, Macmillan Magic, Redcar & Cleveland Rhinos and English Martyrs all suffered heavy defeats at times but found the experience more than enjoyable with most staff looking to further develop their programmes to ensure success in the future.

Kris George, of Stockton 6th Form Slammers, has just taken over the team and is excited about the new season adding “We have a number of interested players at our college and we are all looking forward to a successful season.”

The College league has actually accepted four new teams this year with Bishop Auckland, Nunthorpe 6th Form, Stokesley 6th Form and Carmel College all joining.
