A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy found hanged at the weekend had been playing with ropes, police have confirmed.

Connor Richard Tann, from Boosbeck, near Guisborough was found at nearby Hutton Woods, on Saturday evening.

He had been playing on ropes that had been hanging from the trees and became caught in them.

Detective Constable Dave Thomas, of Redcar CID, said: "This is an absolute tragedy.

"Many youngsters go out into woodland and swing from ropes that have been hanging from trees.

"Unfortunately, on this occasion it would appear that the boy got himself tangled and sadly died as a result of this.

"It is a tragic accident and our thoughts are with his family."
