NEARLY 40 years ago World Cup holders England went to Mexico to defend football’s greatest prize. Having negotiated the group stage – despite being undone by Brazil – they were ultimately knocked-out by West Germany in an agonising quarter-final.
But what was it like to travel to Mexico and witness these epic games as a fan?
Dave Blake (author of ‘The Football Fans Quizbook: The Ultimate Football Quizbook’) and Paul Hodson (co-author of ‘Build A Bonfire – How Football Fans United To Save Brighton And Hove Albion’) wants to speak with supporters who made the trip.
‘DOWN MEXICO WAY!’, to be published in Spring 2010 will chronicle the fans experience at Mexico ‘70.
Were you there? Do you know somebody who was?
