ELTON John has cancelled his concert in Newcastle tonight because of a bout of flu.
He was forced to cancel his show in Sheffield on Friday night, and had hoped to be well enough for the Newcastle gig.
But this afternoon it was announced that Sir Elton would not be well enough to perform at the MetroRadio Arena, and the concert was called off.
A spokesperson for the star said: "Elton is bitterly disappointed at missing tonight's Red Piano concert in Newcastle, it remains one of his favourite areas in the country to perform, the crowds are always great music fans and not being able to this special show for Newcastle is upsetting."
Concert promoters Marshall Arts have asked ticket holders for Newcastle to retain their tickets. A further announcement regarding the concert will be made at 1pm on Monday.
