A TEENAGE girl was grabbed by the throat and robbed in a North-East park last night.
The 16-year-old was attacked in Leazes Park, Newcastle at 9pm.
Police said she was approached by a man, who then grabbed her by the throat before stealing her handbag.
He ran off towards the Royal Victoria Infirmary, and is described as being Asian, aged between 18 and 19-years-old, 5ft 8ins tall with short, black hair.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said incidents of the nature at not common, and it is believed there were members of the public in the area at the time.
