A FACTORY yesterday celebrated the 90th anniversary of its parent company.
Staff at Darlington’s Cummins factory were joined by botanist David Bellamy to celebrate the landmark by planting 90 trees at a school.
Trees were also planted in 2005 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Darlington factory.
Mr Bellamy was at Abbey Primary School yesterday to help with the planting.
Cummins is taking part in Growing Trees – Growing Minds, which it hopes will eventually involve every primary school in the town. Pupils will study the trees and compile annual updates.
As part of the campaign, African schools will benefit by being sent a computer.
