POLICE are appealing for information after a 100ft strip of lead flashing was stolen from a shopping centre's roof.
The lead was taken from the top of the Thames Centre, in Newton Aycliffe town centre, in the 24 hours leading up to 7.30am on Tuesday.
PC Mark Surtees, from Newton Aycliffe police, said: "The price of lead has recently risen and the roof of the Thames Centre still has a large amount on its roof.
"Due to the roof being flat, it is easily accessible from the top floor of the multi-storey car park.
"These suspects have possibly had a vehicle in which to transport the stolen lead."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Surtees on 0345-60-60-365.
