FOOTBALLING legend Jack Charlton today threw his weight behind a campaign reminding people to get their seasonal flu jab.
He was at the Ponteland Road medical centre in Cowgate, Newcastle, to help promote the Department of Health's message Don't Underestimate Seasonal Flu, which encourages people to get their jab and keep themselves well this winter.
Every year seasonal flu accounts for about 8,000 deaths in in England and Wales, with up to 15 per cent of the population succumbing to the illness.
People who are 65 or over are at increased risk of developing serious complications as a result of the virus and are eligible for a free seasonal flu jab from their local GP.
