Phil Wilson, MP for Sedgefield, has taken up the concerns of the Dean Bank residents, following a recent meeting with the residents association.

The MP shared his concerns with residents about absentee private landlords, a problem which is increasing across his constituency. He said of the problem, “I have spoken with Inspector Bentham who has informed me that the police have the powers to close properties and evict tenants who are perpetrators of anti-social behaviour”.

For the police to put their powers into action evidence is required and w3itness statements are needed. The advice given by the police was that they would be prepared to act on information received. Phil Wilson is urging residents with information on anti-social behaviour or nuisance neighbours, to contact the police.

On the wider issue on absent private landlords the MP stated he would be taking the issue up in parliament when he returned on the 12th October.
