A 65-YEAR-OLD man who tried to calm an argument was kicked unconscious and robbed.
The pensioner was walking along Stockton High Street from the post office towards the Ramsgate area at around 10pm on Monday night having just got off a bus from Middlesbrough.
He came across a couple having an argument in a shop doorway and tried to calm the situation. The pair turned on him and pushed him to the ground. Officers believe he was then kicked unconscious and robbed of his wallet, containing cash and a bank card.
The man was left extremely shaken and attended hospital yesterday to be checked over.
Anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen the couple arguing or the man being attacked is asked to contact DC Phil Dawson of Stockton CID on 01642-302226 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
