A HEALTH food store has agreed to work with enterprising young students by stocking honey made in hives kept on school grounds.
Staff and students from Abbey Hill School and Technology College, in Stockton, which caters for children and young people with special educational needs, have created their own brand of honey, which they sell to raise funds for the school.
A group of older students at the school has formed an enterprise group and make the honey, as well as greetings cards, with the help of a professional beekeeper who looks after the school’s hives.
The enterprise group visited Northallerton, North Yorkshire, yesterday to deliver their produce to the Ninian’s health food store, in Friarage Street, where it will be on sale.
The owners, the Chambers family, agreed to support the project after hearing what the enterprise group was trying to achieve.
Steve Chambers said: “We are trying to support them because it is a really great issue to be involved in. It’s good that the school and the students are trying to do something different and we are happy to help them out.”
