A 12-year-old boy has died after a road accident in Sunderland last night.
The lad, who was riding a bike, was in a collision involving a BMW car on the A183 Chester Road, close to the junction with Glenleigh Drive at 8.43pm.
He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where he died later from his injuries.
The road was closed between Springwell Road and Grindon Lane following the incident.
Any witnesses are urged to call Sunderland motor patrols on 0191-563-6747.
