PUPILS at a North-East primary school have been raising money to buy paralympic hopeful Lyndon Longhorne a prosthetic arm.
Youngsters at Gainford Primary School, near Barnard Castle, used only one arm yesterday afternoon to experience how difficult it is for the inspirational teenager.
Lyndon, 13, from Crook, County Durham, lost both legs and an arm when he was struck down by meningitis as a baby.
Earlier this week he was measured for a set of artificial legs.
The £10,000 limbs were paid for with funds raised by Durham County Council chairman Brian Myers’ Limbs For Lyndon campaign, which was backed by readers of The Northern Echo. Now there is a campaign to buy him an arm.
Headteacher at Gainford Primary School, Howard Blindt, who knows the teenager from a previous school, said: “We want him to get a bionic arm because we think he’s a fantastic lad.”
