THE funeral has taken place of an 10-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run incident in York.
Sean Hamilton died two weeks ago when he was hit by a van while crossing the road after a trip to the cinema with his older sister.
Friends and family members said farewell to the schoolboy at Our Lady's Church, in Gale Lane, with many mourners wearing Manchester United football shirts in honour of his favourite team.
A red and white football shaped floral arrangement was also placed on Sean's coffin.
Sean's teachers and classmates from Our Lady's Roman Catholic Primary School also attended the service.
They had been asked to choose the hymns for the service and had also written the bidding prayers for the funeral mass.
The school was closed for the afternoon to allow all teachers to attend the service.
Sean's parents, two sisters and brother walked behind his coffin as they followed their son into the church.
In a statement released after his death, Sean's parents said his loss had left a 'huge void' in their hearts.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Sean's death on October 3.
Five men who were arrested in connection with the incident are still on police bail.
