CANNABIS worth £1m has been uncovered at a warehouse on an industrial estate at Eaglescliffe, near Stockton.
Police raided the premises after reports that a distinct aroma was coming from the building.
It is the largest haul of cannabis plants ever made in the Stockton area.
The discovery was made at around 11.30am yesterday as part of Operation Caterpillar, an on-going operation focusing on crime in and around industrial areas.
Acting Detective Inspector John Fitzpatrick from Stockton's Intelligence Unit, said: "This was down to excellent detective work and we are really pleased with this haul.
"We hope to discover more about the people involved with the planning and running of this cannabis farm.
"I would encourage anyone with information about this and other drug related activity to call Stockton Drugs Team on 01642-302279."
