FLASH flooding has brought another day of misery to drivers across County Durham.
Police issued a warning to motorists to take care on the roads after an afternoon of thunderstorms hit the Durham City area.
Localised flooding has been reported on the A181 Wellfield to Durham City; the A690 Carrville High Street, in Durham City; Mill Lane, in Shincliffe and Millburngate Roundabout in Durham City Centre.
In North Yorkshire a twister was spotted near Guisborough this afternoon.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "No roads are closed to traffic at the moment but with the possibility of further heavy rain to come motorists are being warned to slow down and drive to the conditions."
Storms have also hit parts of Teesside. Flooding has been reported in Hartlepool town centre, while a house is on fire in Stockton following a lightning strike.
