A MAN who is preparing to cycle around the four corners of England for charity is looking for somewhere to sleep when he stops in a North Yorkshire town during the challenge.

Steve Philpotts plans to cycle 1600 miles on a solo, unsupported ride to raise £15,000 for Macmillan cancer relief in memory of his wife Anne, who died from the disease last year.

To keep costs down Mr Philpotts, 44, is hoping to find a business or a kind homeowner to let him stay overnight for free on each day of his trip On day six of his journey, July 31, he will finish his day in Northallerton and is looking for bed and breakfast accommodation to help him on his way.

Mr Philpotts cycle challenge will see him ride from his hometown of Whittington, in Staffordshire, up to Gretna, then travel along the Scottish border to Berwick upon Tweed, down the east cost to Dover, before cycling along the south coast to Lands End, and then back to Whittington.
