NATURE lovers are being asked to have their say on conservation plans to improve a north Durham woodland.
The environmental regeneration charity Groundwork, working with Tanfield Lea Partnership, will be holding an open consultation event on the proposals for Tanfield Park.
Fun and free activities for all the family will take place at Tanfield Lea Working Men's Club, on Saturday from 11am to 2pm.
Young people will be able to take part in orienteering and nature walks with Leisurework’s play rangers.
Groundwork staff will lead walks through the park to discuss proposals throughout the day.
Kath Ivens, volunteers and green spaces co-ordinator for Groundwork, said: "We have been working with Tanfield Lea Partnership to develop proposals for the park.
"We have so far managed to secure £25,000 from Durham County Council's Urban and Rural Renaissance Initiative Neighbourhood Schemes programme for the practical works."
Further funding will be applied for once the final design has been agreed by the Partnership and Durham County Council, which manages the woodland.
Ms Ivens added: "We are hoping that as many local people as possible will come along on Saturday and let us have their views of how they would like to see Tanfield Park improved for the whole community."
