YOUNG chefs cooked up continental cuisine for their family and teachers after transforming their school into a French bistro.
Year Six pupils from St Anne’s Primary School in Bishop Auckland served three mouth-watering courses during the evening, including French onion soup, Beef Bourguignon, and crepes.
The youngsters planned the event from scratch as part of their Creative Curriculum studies, and practised the language required to take food orders, greet guests, and serve drinks.
Parents and teaching assistants helped pupils in the kitchen.
Deputy headteacher Lynne Sixsmith, who teaches the Year six pupils, said: "The bistro was a huge success, and the pupils were a credit to the school.
"They have been extremely interested in this project from the outset, and worked closely together as a team, both in the planning stages and at the event itself."
