A PORSCHE owned by Middlesbrough star Robert Huth was stolen after a man broke into his home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and grabbed the car keys.
The Germany international, who is one of a number of players expected to leave the Riverside this summer following Boro's relegation, was on holiday when the luxury car was stolen on Tuesday.
North Yorkshire Police said the thief then took the luxury car on a joyride before crashing it and running off.
Inspector Mike Woodhall of Harrogate Police said: "It would appear that after the suspect crashed the car he walked through Highmoor Farm caravan park in Skipton Road and told the owner he had crashed his own Porsche, that the police had been informed, and he wanted a taxi calling."
He was picked up by taxi from the crash site in Penny Pot Lane, Harrogate, and dropped off two miles away.
