A WOMAN from Teesdale will take part in the Great North Run in memory a friend who died from breast cancer.
Roxy Jackson, from Evenwood, County Durham, will run the half marathon in September for the Breast Cancer Campaign.
The Training Manager decided to join Breast Cancer Campaigns Jigsaw Runners team for the race in memory of her friend, Catherine MacKenna, who died from breast cancer at the age of 34.
She is also taking part to support another friend who made a full recovery and is running in the race.
Mrs Jackson said: "Raising money for breast cancer research is a cause very close to my heart.
"I want to run this race for my friends to show that I support them and also to help the charitys mission to beat this disease."
Breast Cancer Campaign has charity places available on its Jigsaw Runners team and the deadline for entries is on Monday (July 6).
