A BRASS band from a former pit village will thank the community for a year of support with a free concert.
Fishburn Band will perform at Fishburn Workingmen’s Club on Friday July 10, 8.30pm.
There will also be a guest soloist, Fishburn Primary School pupil Leonie Hobson who plays clarinet with Sedgefield Wind Band.
There will be no charge at the event as players and officials organise the annual concert to show their appreciation to supporters.
Band supporters Julie and Peter Evans will take part in a sponsored walk from Fishburn to Durham on Saturday July 11, from 8am.
They will collect donations at the concert or in the village at the start of their walk to Durham City, where the band will take part in Durham Miners’ Gala.
Barclays has agreed to match fund the sponsorship Mr and Mrs Evans raise in aid of the band up to £750.
