SIX teams of youngsters from County Durham are to take part in the finals of a national football competition this weekend.
The annual Game On competition, organised by The Coalfields Regeneration Trust, takes place at the Keepmoat Stadium, in Doncaster, on Saturday.
The competition, for children aged 12 to 16 competing in Midnight League competitions around the country, will see 64 qualifying teams compete in six categories.
Durham City will field a side in the Premiership Under 16 Boys, while Team Dan, from Stanley, will play in the Championship Under 16 Boys.
Both Durham City and Gilesgate Jaguars have qualified for the Under 16 Girls competition. Gilesgate Jaguars have also qualified for the Under 14 Girls competition, where they will line up alongside Beamish.
Peter McNestry of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, said: "We are looking forward to a tough competition, with many of the teams making their second and even third appearance at the national finals.
"Well done to everyone involved with the Midnight Leagues who do such a fantastic job inspiring these young players."
