FINE weather and a wide range of attractions helped a school’s summer fete raise almost £3,000.

A small army of parents, other family members and staff had been preparing for months ahead of the event at Broomfield primary school, Northallerton.

It featured dozens of attractions, from face painting and henna hand decoration to a crockery smash and bouncy castle. Juice and chocolate fountains did a roaring trade, as did the barbecue and cake stall.

Friends of Broomfield School chairperson Pamela Johnson said: "The last two summer fairs raised more than £2,000 each, which was fantastic enough, but to top that so spectacularly this year is amazing."

She added: "We’re really grateful for everyone who came to support the event, as well as all who helped make it such a success, including the local businesses that generously gave raffle prizes and more."

The money raised will go towards extending the school’s new adventure playground equipment among other things.
